Where the Interns Come out to Play, Part #4

As the summer season comes to a close, so do the summer internships at Wolf Trap. Over the course of 12 weeks, Wolf Trap interns have had the chance to take on various responsibilities within their respective departments and we’ve learned that no day is the same at Wolf Trap! In their own words—a few interns tell us why a day in the life in their position is unique!

Némesis Zambrano— Videography Intern, Wolf Trap Opera Company

“I have a very busy schedule, I work six days a week—a different schedule from most of the interns; I come in later in the day and leave later at night. I record all of the Opera performances including the Little Lunch Music every Wednesday, I create promo and grant proposal videos, and I am also a part of the administration staff for the opera company, which gives me the chance to sit in on meetings. It’s like a little family and I feel like a part of the team.”

Justin McCarthy—Copywriting Intern, Communications and Marketing

“I get to research all the upcoming artists and performers that come through Wolf Trap and then create their biographies for Center Lines—the program magazine for the summer performances. Writing biographies about each artist a gives me a unique perspective on their performance when I get to see them live because of the history I’ve learned.”

Mark Blashford—Education Intern, Education

In the morning, I could be selling merchandise at Theatre-in-the-Woods, in the afternoon I am working at my desk writing and compiling research for my department, and in the evening I am Wolfie the mascot for Wolf Trap’s green initiative—Green Spot. It’s like having three internships in one!”

Arianna Zell—Advertising/ Group Sales Intern, Communication and Marketing

“Through group sales, I have the opportunity to interact with the people who are coming to the shows and I get an outlook on the demographics of Wolf Trap patrons. For advertising I get to reach out to people and try to get them interested in the Wolf Trap experience, which has made me realize how unique it really is and I appreciate it more myself.”

Now that you’ve heard what they have to say, check out this short vignette by our Multimedia intern, Reed Bonnet to learn more!
